Manufacturing Process & Heat Treatment of SS 316 Jumper
Annealing
SS 316 jumper tubing and fittings are solution-annealed at 1040°C to 1120°C, slightly higher than 304, to fully dissolve carbides and restore the molybdenum-bearing matrix's chloride resistance after forming or welding.
Forging
Fitting bodies and connection ends are forged from SS 316 bar stock at 1100°C to 1230°C. The higher alloy content requires tighter temperature control during forging to avoid carbide precipitation at grain boundaries, which would otherwise reduce corrosion resistance in service.
